Welling recently delivered on our appointment as Employers Agent and  Clerk of Works on a site in Stokes Croft, Bristol. Engaged by Sovereign Network Group (SNG) to provide our services relating to their provision of affordable housing across the Carriageworks site, we were able to successfully oversee the completion of 37 apartments across two blocks.

Carriageworks was a regeneration project of a disused Victorian factory. Demolition of the listed building alongside a separate building of redundant offices was required to make way for 143 apartments within a courtyard arrangement.

A highly complex site that wasn’t without its challenges, including an unexpected archaeological discovery of a redundant print room used for storage of food rations during the Second World War.

James Gibson, Regional Director for Development at SNG, said: “These new apartments at Perry House are part of our ambition to develop thousands more urgently needed affordable and sustainable homes to the high standards our customers’ rightly expect. By working closely with Homes England and Bristol City Council, we’ve been able to help more people find a good, affordable home in a city where there is enormous housing pressure. Where people have these homes we know they can enjoy better lives.

“This new range of apartments really demonstrates our commitment to put the customer at the heart of everything we do. It also shows how we strive to design high-quality homes which exceed standards and norms, wherever possible.”
