Practical Completion of Victory Oak Development
Welling Partnership is pleased to announce that after a period of 7 years their duties as Employer’s Agent and Principal Designer, acting for Sovereign Housing Association have come to a successful conclusion on the exciting residential development at the former American and Canadian military hospital site in St Leonards near Ringwood.
The project, which was constructed by Drew Smith, included the construction of 210 new houses and flats for a mix of Open Market Sale, Shared Ownership and Affordable Rent, with a Cricket Pavilion and an 18-hectare Nature Reserve also being delivered. An 80-bedroom care home is also currently under construction on site.
Welling was part of the delivery team that dealt with the contract administration and the many challenges on the project including the diversion of a myriad of previously undetected live services, the removal of approximately 5000 invasive trees, and, highly sensitive ecology works associated with protected flora, fauna and wildlife prior to demolishing the existing hospital buildings and preparing the site for development.
David Wagg, Partner at Welling, who has been the project lead throughout, commented “from the outset, this has been a challenging but rewarding project for all involved which has resulted in the delivery of homes built to a high quality of design and specification with a nature reserve wrapped around them.”
