CARRIAGEWORKS STOKES CROFT, BRISTOL

Based in the heart of Stokes Croft, the regeneration of the Carriageworks site consisted of the demolition of a listed Victorian factory, and a separate building of redundant offices to provide 143 flats in a courtyard arrangement. The complexities of the site were numerous including the retention of the Grade II listed façade of the Victorian factory (tying into the new buildings) as well as the discovery of a dis-used print room for food rations during the Second World war as well and an unexpected archaeological discovery.

Welling was appointed by our client to provide services relating to the purchase of the affordable housing provision across the site which comprised of 37 flats across two flat blocks.
