GRADUATE / ASSISTANT SURVEYOR
(LONDON OFFICE)An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Graduate/Assistant Employer’s Agent based from our London office operating across the surrounding area.
The role comprises conducting the full spectrum of post-contract services for Housing Associations, Local Authorities and Developers, initially supporting other Employer’s Agents before gaining experience and managing projects independently.
The successful candidate will be an individual who is dynamic, flexible, responsive, and able to work in challenging timescales. Good people skills are essential as well as a basic understanding of the design and build construction process.
QUALITIES/KNOWLEDGE:
- Undertaking or having completed a High Education course related to Construction /
Surveying. - Have a basic understanding of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Full driving license and access to a vehicle. The role requires travel across the South
of England to construction sites as well as regular attendance at our Southampton
office. - Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Ambition and character to grow professionally and personally with the business.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
- To assist other Surveyors in the delivery of Employer’s Agent services for the delivery of the project(s) which will require:
- Attending progress meetings and producing meeting minutes. To assist the project Employer’s Agent, follow up and proactively manage the project on an ongoing basis.
- Assist the project Employer’s Agent in undertaking all day-to-day administrative duties on the delivery of projects under the terms of JCT, Design and Build, Bespoke Development Agreements etc.
- Support the project Employer’s Agent to routinely report on time, cost, and quality to the client and proactively manage associated risks.
- To successfully manage the handover process including undertaking pre-handover inspections.
- To manage post-completion activities including end-of-defect rectification period inspections, agreement of the final account, and auditing the Building Manual.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
Working Hours:
- Working Hours 9 am to 5.30 pm with an hour for lunch.
- We currently operate flexible hours so that if you wish you can start early/leave early
or start late and leave late. However, core hours will be between 10 am and 4 pm. - We adopt hybrid working arrangements which allow staff at their choice to work remotely for 2 days of the week.
Remuneration and Benefits:
- Salary range depends on experience and qualifications.
- Car allowance provided. Business miles will be reimbursed at our standard mileage rate
- Excellent Rewards/benefits package
- Holiday: 25 days per annum with a further 3 days between Christmas and New Year when the office will be closed. Bank Holidays in addition.
Training and Development:
- Active engagement in career progression/attainment of RICS or equivalent
membership. - RICS subscription will be met in full by the Practice. Alternatively, membership in
other professional bodies that are relevant to the role.
